The Las Vegas Smash duo take their second PPL II title of the season.

Guille brought his best level yet against two of the top pairs on tour.

Another Pro Padel League event in the books, and another championship for Las Vegas Smash. Luice Perez and her partner Anna Cortiles took home the PPL II title at the LA stop, held at Barker Hangar from August 13-16.

From group play to the podium

Luice and Anna opened strong against DC Matrix, taking the match 6-3, 6-0. They dropped their next one to Miami, but a three-way tie in the group meant game differential decided who moved on. Las Vegas Smash’s numbers held up.

In the final against Toronto Polar Bears, they closed it out 7-6, 6-2 to take the title.

It’s the second title of the season for the pair, who have now won two of three tournaments. That puts them at the top of the PPL II standings heading into the next stop.

Guille battles top-tier competition

On the men’s side, Guille Cagigas and partner Agustin Torre drew two of the strongest pairs in PPL right out of the gate.

On Day 1, they faced Toronto Polar Bears’ Alex Ruiz and Mario Huete. Guille and Torre pushed the match the full distance, falling 5-7, 6-7 in a tight two-set battle that ran nearly an hour and forty-five minutes.

Day 2 brought Florida Goats’ Juan Ignacio de Pascual and Luis Hernandez Quesada, another top pair. Las Vegas Smash lost 3-6, 5-7, but stayed in it through the second set.

Two matches against two of the toughest pairs on tour. Guille brought his best level yet.

Next up: Playa del Carmen. The season continues in Playa del Carmen from September 24-27.

Congrats to Luice, Anna, Guille, and the whole Las Vegas Smash roster and coaching staff.
